| HEISCO Marine : Overview
A newly modern outfitted engineering workshop ensures efficient and reliable mechanical servicing available at all times. New building modules and large steel repairs are prefabricated in the 7,800 square meters construction area, of which 3,500 square meters is under cover. A new hall of 1,000 square meters with a height of 18 meters which is directly linked to the repair-bay/Synchrolift facility has been added. A large steel construction hall, a covered repair and new building hall, sheet metal and steel outfitting shop, pipe shop, electrical workshop, woodwork shop, toolmaker’s shop, galvanizing shop, blasting and painting plant, and fully equipped laboratory are located on an area of 200,000 square meters in the yard. For offshore work, a diving support vessel with qualified divers, floating workshops, flying squads and an underwater hull cleaning team ensures efficient and high quality repairs with subsequent short delivery times on the smallest and largest vessels visiting Kuwait. HEISCO highly skilled work force, many having been with the Company since its inception, have the skills, ability and training to work on both marine and industrial work. An optimum organization ensures that lines of communication are short and efficiency at a maximum. A modern approach to management is applied with emphasis on flexibility in accommodating the needs of clients. With the ability to call upon the expertise and specialized activities of our Industrial Contracts Division, the required manpower can be adapted according to the workload at any given time. A workforce of 400 employees in the Marine division and 200 employees and sub contractor in the Industrial division, together with modern equipment and a strong yard management team the correct combination is at hand to ensure minimum delivery times at very competitive prices. Technical Service Agents and Spare Parts stockists of most manufacturing companies are available either in Kuwait or the Gulf Area, with any deficiencies being facilitated from major distribution areas and air-freighted in at 24 hours notice. As a matter of policy, the company develops and maintains Services and Agency Agreements with Overseas Principals that are relevant to supporting our activities and the needs of our clientele. Overhauls are undertaken in the workshops under the direction of specialist service engineers. All major classification societies are represented in Kuwait and the company enjoys a long-standing, good relationships with them. As a commitment to its Quality Assurance program the company obtained accreditation to ISO 9001. This was a major achievement and HEISCO became the first shipyard in the Gulf region to be awarded this certification. A Quality Control department, with 60 employees, carries out a full range of nondestructive and destructive testing and the associated skills of inspection and quality assurance. Industries & Shipbuilding Co. is ideally placed to
execute ship repair & constraction at competitive rates. A floating
drydock of length 190 meters, width 32 meters, caters for vessels
up to 35.000 dwt. A Synchrolift accommodates vessels up to 5.000
dwt. With 7 repair bays, ranging in length from 90 to 135 meters,
the system is linked by a transfer system. 5 Berths, ranging from
90 meters to 230 meters in length are serviced along their entire
length by luffing cranes. 6 Cranes, with lifting capacities from
10 to 30 tons, cover the yard open areas and there are 10 to 20
tons overhead travelling cranes in the workshops and stores.
